You never know when an emergency is going to happen, and the last thing that will be on your mind is gathering all the essentials you’ll need during a disaster. Here are 4 things you should store away in a safe place that is quickly accessible so you have the basic living essentials
Water. Always have water stored away as you will need it to cook with, drink and bathe in. You can store away tap water or bottled water as you need to mark the dates on the bottles so you can always keep a fresh supply handy.
Flashlights and batteries. Don’t go stumbling around in the dark after a tornado, earthquake, blizzard or simple thunderstorm knocks out the power. Keep flashlights, lanterns and batteries handy.
Fuel. Nobody ever thinks about keeping propane or gas fuel available until it is too late. Yet these fuels can help you heat meals on a grill or power your generator during emergencies.
Canned and non-cook foods. You may think that you can eat the food in your refrigerator when the power goes out. Yet if the power is out for a long length of time, it is much safer for your health to eat canned food and items that don’t need to be refrigerated. Otherwise, you may end up eating something that has spoiled as you can become sick.
